Frequently Asked Questions

General Practice Information

What ages do you work with?
Wright Path Counseling & Wellness provides therapy services for children, teens, and adults ages 3 through their 60s. Treatment approaches are tailored to each developmental stage and individual need.

What types of therapy do you offer?
Services may include play therapy, EMDR therapy, trauma-informed counseling, parent consultation, and individual therapy focused on emotional regulation, anxiety, trauma recovery, and life transitions.

Play Therapy & Child Counseling

What is play therapy?
Play therapy is a developmentally appropriate approach that helps children express thoughts and emotions through play rather than words alone. Through structured therapeutic play, children can build coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and process difficult experiences.

Do parents participate in sessions?
Parent involvement varies depending on the child’s needs. Some sessions include parent check-ins or parent coaching to support progress at home while maintaining a safe therapeutic space for the child.

EMDR Therapy

What is EMDR therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy used to help individuals process distressing memories and experiences. It supports the brain’s natural healing process and can reduce emotional distress connected to trauma, anxiety, and other challenges.

Is EMDR only for trauma?
While EMDR is well known for trauma treatment, it may also help with anxiety, self-esteem issues, negative beliefs, and emotionally overwhelming experiences.

Is EMDR safe for children and teens?
Yes. EMDR can be adapted in developmentally appropriate ways for younger clients when clinically appropriate.

Divorce, Custody, and Court Involvement

Do you provide custody evaluations or recommendations?
No. Wright Path Counseling & Wellness does not conduct custody evaluations or provide opinions regarding custody arrangements. These services are outside the scope of practice.

Can you provide feedback about which parent a child should live with?
No. The role of therapy is to support emotional wellbeing, not to determine legal or custodial outcomes.

What happens if therapy becomes focused on divorce or custody issues?
If treatment needs shift toward divorce-related evaluations or legal matters, appropriate referrals will be provided to professionals who specialize in those services.

How can I can I access my child's records/my records?

You can reach out to your clinician to inform them that you would like to have access to your records. A consent form will be shared with you that informs you of the risks of accessing documents such as psychotherapy notes. If you require electronic versions these can be shared with you on the client portal. If you are requesting a printed copy of your records that will come with a fee to cover the cost of time, paper and ink used, this is listed in the consent form.

TRICARE and Out-of-Network Benefits

Are you in-network with TRICARE?
Ashley Wright, LPC-S, RPT is out-of-network with TRICARE.

What does out-of-network mean for TRICARE clients?
Being out-of-network means sessions are paid privately at the time of service rather than billed directly to TRICARE.

How do clients with TRICARE pay for services?
Clients typically pay the session fee upfront. Upon request, a detailed receipt (often called a “superbill”) can be provided, which clients may submit to TRICARE independently to request possible reimbursement based on their out-of-network benefits. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on the individual plan.

Getting Started

How do I begin services?
The first step is scheduling an intake appointment. During intake, we discuss goals, concerns, and the best treatment approach moving forward.

How long are therapy sessions?
Standard therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes unless otherwise discussed.

How often will sessions occur?
Frequency depends on clinical needs and goals. Many clients begin with weekly sessions and adjust over time as progress develops.
